Landscaped rehabilitation universe

In 2023, Glostrup Hospital was expanded with a new neurorehabilitation center, the Bodil Eskesen Center. The modern building was created with a focus on the latest research in healing architecture and offers a highly specialized physical environment for patients with severe brain and spinal cord injuries.

The center is surrounded by a green park that gives the building a harmonious and inviting landscape character. In addition, AART Architects has elegantly integrated the park's expression with the facade's choice of materials.

In strong relation to the landscape, part of the building is clad in western red cedar. The reddish tone of the wood gives a warm expression and together with an almost knot-free wood type, a beautiful and exclusive look is achieved.

Cedar is ideal for slat cladding as it is highly resistant to weather, rot, insects and fungus. It is also low in density and requires minimal maintenance.

Nordisk Profil has supplied wooden slats for several parts of the facade, including the side cladding and ceiling at the entrance. In addition, the technical buildings on the roof have also been clad with western red cedar.

Woodfac Panel is used for the wood cladding, which acts as a closed climate envelope and protects the building from weather influences. The slats are mounted with a center distance (cc) of 70 and 100 mm respectively and are available in dimensions 34x34 mm and 34x65 mm. However, the design is fully customizable and the choice of wood species is flexible. This allows you to create a customized façade with systems that are fire tested and approved according to EN 14915.
