Student housing in Hermodsgade

Architect: Holscher Nordberg

Facade system: Woodfac Panel

The former Electrolux factory building on Hermodsgade in Copenhagen has been transformed into 189 student residences.

The project is a beautiful example of an 87-year-old building being transformed into a new sustainable building. Rather than demolishing, it often makes sense to create something new out of the existing. Holscher Nordberg has managed to do this beautifully, with deep respect for the building's existing architecture and history.

In 2022, the student housing was nominated for the Renover Prize, which honours the best renovation projects every year. Read more about the project here; Student housing in Hermodsgade - Renoverprisen.

Amoungst other things, the building has been renovated with the Woodfac Panel facade system - a closed facade system with wooden lamellae that acts as a climate screen and protects against weather effects while allowing the building to breathe. The wooden lamellae are sustainable and, not least, fire-tested several times.

Nordisk Profil is in control of fire and safety and offers the Woodfac facade system, which, as an installed facade system, is the only product on the market that has been classification tested and passed to B-s1,d0 / B-s2,d0.
